CIMS Weekly Chart: Week Ending 1/27/17

Week Ending 1/27/2017

Greetings,

Border City Media compiles the CIMS weekly charts with input from Streetpulse and both data companies have been very good partners to independent music retail. Chris, at Border City, and I are working on ways to provide more in-depth data on the stores' sales trends in the coming weeks and I’d like to give you a sneak peek at a part of what we are looking at. As you can see, the switch to a Friday street date has shifted the sales even more to the weekend, but what we have been saying about weakened weekday sales is also apparent here. Additionally, the differences in peak sales of vinyl and CDs is something to look at, with vinyl sales focused a little more on the weekend. Look for more extensive data in the weeks to come.

CIMS Selections
Here's what the CIMS staffers are fancying this week:

Bryan Peters - ThinkIndie Warehouse Manager
Ty Segall- Ty Segall (Drag City)

I’ve been a fan of Ty since I stumbled across him playing at the Comet Tavern in Seattle back in 2010. I bought a copy of Melted that night and have been hooked since. I love that he’s pretty much had the same band since the Melted days, most of the time anyway. This will probably be one of my favorite records of 2017.

Scott Register - ThinkIndie A&R
Tift Merritt- Stitch Of The World (Yep Roc/Redeye)

Welcome back, Tift! Her new album is easily one of her best and her voice sounds as sweet as ever. Proud of you, lil’ sis!
