I, like the owners and employees of over 200 independent Record Stores, am preparing for our big gathering next week in New Orleans. CIMS, along with our partner coalitions, Department of Record Stores and the Alliance of Independent Media Stores, are hosting a conference focused on the issues and culture of the independent music store. This year we have opened the door to several other independent retailers not involved in a coalition. Our collective message is that physical music products still matter and guess what, we’re still here. I hope to see many of you next week.

Here's what the CIMS staffers are fancying this week:
Scott Register - ThinkIndie A&R
Tyler Childers- Purgatory (Thirty Tigers)
Southern Gothic songwriting at its finest. Make room Steve Earle, Chris Knight and the like.
Nick Campbell - ThinkIndie Warehouse Manager
Chain of Flowers- Chain of Flowers (Alter)
These guys from Cardiff released a 7” that popped up in my Spotify Release Radar a few weeks ago. This is their first full-length from 2015. It’s loud, fast, shimmering noise in the vein of shoegaze and post-punk that powers through eight songs without much room to pause. Check it out if you’re a fan of A Place to Bury Strangers, Cheatahs, or Eagulls.
